More than a place, a legacy of two remarkable women
Bozlanj Café (Gulmit): A Cultural Beacon of Tradition & Resilience
A bittersweet memory, Bozlanj Café once stood as a women-led cultural sanctuary, offering authentic Wakhi dishes and heartfelt hospitality in Gulmit. Though washed away in the August 12 flash flood, its story of empowerment and resilience lives on.

A Humble Beginning & Community Legacy
Originally located near the Gulmit Polo Ground, later relocating along the Karakoram Highway (KKH) near the filling station, Bozlanj’s journey reflects both evolution and rootedness in community values.

The Heart of the Café: Empowerment, Tradition & Hospitality
Founded by Malika Sultana and Rashida Begum, with early support
from Tahira Begum, Bozlanj quickly became known for authentic
Wakhi-Pamirian dishes—such as Gral, Ghilmindi, Molida,
Qaq Moch, Semnek, Urzu’k, Chilpek, and Choy.
But it was more than food, it was warmth, professionalism, and cultural pride.

The Flash Flood & Its Aftermath
On 12 August, a flash flood triggered by Juchar Nallah swept away Bozlanj Café entirely—destroying orchards, bridges, irrigation, and utilities in Gulmit.
